چکیده

A device using a steam injection funnel is described by means of which air can be driven quickly and surely from an autoclave load. It is simple and inexpensive, necessitates no changes in the working routine of a microbiology laboratory, and does not interfere with the operation of the autoclave in its normal mode.

Processing urinary endoscopes in a low-temperature steam and formaldehyde autoclave.

Methods of disinfection and sterilisation of urinary endoscopes are considered. A small mobile low-temperature steam and formaldehyde autoclave (Miniclave 80) is evaluated and shown to be satisfactory for this purpose as judged by a variety of relevant microbiological test pieces.

Effect of Autoclave Sterilisation on the Dimensional Stability and Tear Strength of Three Silicone Impression Materials

Objectives: There is a risk of spreading infectious material via non-sterile impressions. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of autoclave sterilisation on dimensional stability and tear strength of impression materials. Methods: Twenty-four specimens were produced using a standard ruled test block for each of three impression materials (Affinis, Aquasil and Speedex) to test dimensi...

The sterilization of dressings.

The application of moist heat in an autoclave is the best method of sterilizing dressings. In order to kill the most resistant pathogenic spores they must be exposed for at least 20 minutes to saturated steam at 1210 C. (Ministry of Health, 1955). At this temperature pure steam exerts a pressure of 15 lb./sq. in. The steam should be dry but at the phase boundary between liquid and vapour, so th...

Measurement of formaldehyde concentrations in a subatmospheric steam-formaldehyde autoclave.

A method has been developed for measuring formaldehyde concentrations in a subatmospheric steam-formaldehyde autoclave. Data obtained using this method indicate that the concentration of formaldehyde in the chamber atmosphere is not homogeneous and that it decreases rapidly with time. The penetration of formaldehyde vapour into narrow tubes has also been investigated and was shown to be depende...
